BGCT Officially Kicks Off Summer Program

June 18, 2013

The Boys & Girls Club of Troy officially kicked off its 2013 Summer Program on Monday, as Club members walked the "red carpet” into the games room to commemorate the first day of a 10-week program featuring a variety of fun and engaging activities designed to serve local youth.

Over 300 members ranging in age from six to 18 attended the opening day of the 2013 Summer Program and enjoyed an entire day of games, field activities, art projects, and much more.

During the second week of the program beginning June 24, members who have registered for other amenities such as field trips and sports leagues will begin participating in those activities. The new robotics program, operated in conjunction with Game Crazy, will run every Monday in July.

Club members and parents will have other special days to look forward to this summer, including a carnival in early August and a talent show which will take place near the end of the 10-week program.

The Boys & Girls Club of Troy is a non-profit youth development organization that provides educational and recreational activities, in addition to mentoring programs, to more than 1,200 children, ages 6 to 18, in the tri-county area of metropolitan Detroit. For over 35 years, the Club has given youth a platform which allows them to develop into self-reliant, responsible, contributing members of the community.
