May 16, 2013

The Rochester Hills Government Youth Council, in partnership with Beaumont Health Systems and Sola Life & Fitness, is sponsoring a charity 5K fun run/walk to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Troy. The event will be held on Saturday, June 15 at Bloomer Park in Rochester Hills.

Registration is ongoing for participants who wish to run or walk in this event, or for anyone who would like to pursue a sponsorship opportunity. Information is available at rochesterhills.org or by calling (248) 841-2460.

Students can participate for as low as $15, while other individual runners and walkers can pre-register for $25 per person. There are also special rates for pairs and families, and children ages 10 and under can run for free. Pre-registration is accepted through June 13, but race day registration is available for an additional $5 per person.

The 5K fun run/walk begins at 8:30 a.m. at Bloomer Park, located at the north end of John R Road in Rochester Hills. The park’s off-road course through rolling hills provides an ideal setting for the event.

The Boys & Girls Club of Troy is a non-profit youth development organization that provides educational and recreational activities, in addition to mentoring programs, to more than 1,200 children, ages 6 to 18, in the tri-county area. For over 35 years, the Club has given youth a platform which allows them to develop into self-reliant, responsible, contributing members of the community.

The Rochester Hills Government Youth Council promotes youth involvement in local government through active participation and the mutual exchange of ideas and experience.
