Family Dollar Making the Holidays Brighter for Boys & Girls Clubs

October 30, 2014

Every year, nearly four million young people are served by Boys & Girls Clubs. To celebrate these extraordinary efforts, Family Dollar Stores, Inc. announced that it is partnering with Boys & Girls Clubs of America with a four-week program called, “Open the Door for America’s Kids.”

Beginning Saturday, November 1, customers at the Family Dollar locations in Madison Heights (1419 W. 14 Mile Rd.) and Warren (2212 E. 14 Mile Rd.) can make a monetary contribution at checkout to be donated to the Boys & Girls Club of Troy this holiday season.

“After learning how many children are served by Boys & Girls Clubs across the country each year, we knew we wanted to lend a hand,” said Howard Levine, Chairman and CEO of Family Dollar. “We are thrilled to be teaming up with such an incredible organization, and I know that together, we can help provide a happier holiday season to many children and families across the country.”

“The commitment shown by Family Dollar to help Boys & Girls Clubs continue to positively influence our youth is fantastic,” said Tom Gorman, Club Director for the Boys & Girls Club of Troy. “Our Club is grateful to be the beneficiary of the efforts of two local Family Dollar locations, and we are confident that the amount raised through this initiative will be impactful.”

Family Dollar stores invite customers to give at least $1 at the register during the month of November to benefit local Boys & Girls Clubs. Every $1 donation helps provide 20 minutes of after-school programming for a Club member, and $15 helps keep a child safe after school today.
