Winter seems to be the longest season, so why not think ahead to a Mardi Gras Celebration at the National City Taste of Troy benefit for the Boys & Girls Club of Troy on Sunday, March 7 from 1–4 pm at the San Marino Club, 1685 E. “Thanks to the San Marino Club, attendees will enjoy all the fun of a great New Orleans Mardi Gras,” said Steve Toth, Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Club of Troy. “Think New Orleans jazz music, carnivals, elaborate masks and costumes, beads and doubloons, and lots of mouth-watering food prepared by Troy’s finest restaurants. What could be more fun than savoring delicious cuisine, enjoying great entertainment from Carl Cafagna & the Creole Kitchen Jazz Band, a live auction, a silent auction, and a raffle—while raising money for a great cause—the Boys & Girls Club? Proceeds from the event will help the organization provide a safe place for 1,200 young people to interact, learn, grow and develop into contributing members of this community.”
New Orleans Mardi Gras lovers will enjoy the fare from more than 30 premier restaurant and food establishments, including: Achatz Handmade Pie Company, Bangkok Bistro, Brio’s, Chipotle Mexican Grill, Crumpets Restaurant at the Somerset Inn, Edible Arrangements, GFS-Marketplace, Grand Traverse Pie Company, Kalamata Greek Café, Kim’s Restaurant, Kona Grill, Maggiano’s Little Italy, McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood, Morton’s the Steakhouse, Mr. B’s Troy, Ocean Prime, P.F. Chang’s China Bistro, Papa Vino’s Italian Kitchen, Picano’s Ristorante Italiano, Priya Indian Cuisine, Qdoba Mexican Grill, Raparian Grill at the Embassy Suites, Rib City, Ridley’s Bakery Café, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Salsarita’s, Shield’s of Troy, Starbucks, TGI Friday’s Troy, The Melting Pot of Troy, and Tre Monti Ristorante.
In addition to mouth-watering food sampling, attendees can bid on gift baskets, spa, hotel and restaurant gift certificates and celebrity-signed aprons in the silent auction, enjoy music and be a part of the live auction with WDIV TV 4 Meteorologist Andrew Humphrey. There is a raffle with terrific door prizes, including the three-day New Orleans trip.
Participating restaurants compete for awards including Critics’ Choice and People’s Choice. National City will receive recognition by the Club for serving as Naming Sponsor.
The Boys & Girls Club of Troy at 3670 John R, is a non-profit youth development organization that provides educational and recreational activities, in addition to counseling programs to more than 1200 children, ages 6 to 18, in Oakland and Macomb counties. The Club’s positive environment enables members to become responsible, self-reliant, caring adults.
