Frequently Asked Questions

You have questions, we've got answers. Below are some of the most frequently asked questions about the Boys & Girls Club of Troy. If you cannot find an answer to your question below, feel free to contact us at (248) 689-1687.
  • Do my kids have to be Troy residents to attend?

The quick answer is no.  We welcome youth from any and every community. In fact, during our summer program, youth from nearly 40 communities participate.

  • Who can join and what are the requirements?

Anyone ages 6 through 18 can join the Boys & Girls Club of Troy.  A completed Membership Application, with your $70 membership fee, is required.

Additionally, new members and their parents must attended a New Family Orientation, which is held nearly every Tuesday night @6 pm at the Club.  Call to reserve your orientation spot at (248) 689-1687.

  • What is a membership and why do I need it?

A nominal fee of $70 per year is required to participate in the many programs and activities offered by the Boys & Girls Club of Troy for each child. This fee helps us cover the cost of operating expenses (approximately $800 per member per year). Memberships also help us keep kids safe by tracking attendance and verifying identity.

Think of it like this, for just $70, your child can come to the Club everyday after school.  Additionally, the membership allows you to purchase a spot in our summer program and discounted rentals and birthday parties at the Club, along with a host of other benefits.

  • What are your hours of operation?

For members, our doors are open from 2pm to 7pm each day after school. We do open early to accomodate half days as well. On most days when there is no school, we are open from 7am to 6pm. Please note that extended hours fees will apply when we are open for a full day.

We follow the Troy School District calendar to determine the days that we will open early. Click here to view our calendar with up-to-date hours of operation for each day.

Our club is open at 9:00 am for business operations.

  • What can my child do while they are at the Club?

When your child comes to the Club each day, they will get to choose their own fun. Everyday, your child can choose from playing a game or learning a new athletic skill in the Gym, improving their art skills in the Art Room, play a game of pool or foosball with their friends in the Games Room. On nice days, our members are on our black top area playing basketball or four-square, or maybe playing a game on our shared green space behind our club.

After school, we also offer homework assistance to all of our members.

  • Can I tour the Club?

Yes, you can tour the club. Visit at any time and a BGCT Staff member would be happy to show you and your family around the club.  Also, remember that new families with interest in the club can attend a New Member Orientation in which they will receive a tour and get all of their questions answered too. New Member Orientations are held each Tuesday, during the school year, at 6pm at the Club.

  • Does BGCT really have the best and most affordable summer program in the area?

We think so. Compare our 9-week summer program to any other and you will see that we are the most affordable. Are we the best? Give us a chance to prove it to you and your family.

Registration for our summer program will open in early March. Don't forget that you must be a member to purchase a spot in our summer program. Memberships can be purchased at the time of registration, if needed.

Click here for more information about our summer program.

  • Does the Club provide any meals or snacks?

Unfortunately, we do not have the capabilities to prepare meals and serve snacks. Although, we do have a Snack Shack available for members to purchase chips, fruit, ice cream and drinks along with a number of other items. We also feature a Smart Snacks program which features healthier options (sugar-restricted, low sodium, etc.)

If your child is here during a lunch time, they will need to bring a lunch with them to the Club.

Members are always welcome to bring a snack with them if they would like.

  • Is the club available to rent?

Yes!  From birthday parties and banquets, to wedding receptions and graduation parties, we are able to rent our facilities.  We have meeting spaces, a gymnasium, a pavilion outside, and a games room. Call  (248) 689-1687 for more information or check our Rentals page by clicking here.
