A vehicle for promoting good character among preteen members (ages 11-13), Torch Club is a small-group leadership and service club for boys and girls. Torch Club members learn to work together to plan and implement activities in four areas: service to Club and community; education; health and fitness; and social recreation.

Through service activities, Torch Club members identify Club and community needs, develop programs and activities and actively participate in their community. Examples of Torch Club service activities include food and clothing drives, community clean-up projects, and environmental awareness efforts.

Torch Club members also take part in educational activities which help to develop socialization, problem-solving, communications, goal-setting and decision-making skills.

When Torch Club members display the behaviors associated with good character, they become positive role models who can influence their peers in ways that Club staff cannot. Younger members see Torch Club members as experienced leaders, and staff members value them as important partners in the daily operation of the Club.
